Amber Thomas, former director of Mo-Ranch’s Outdoor Adventure Day Camp, was promoted to director of all of the conference center’s summer camping operations on Dec. 12, 2011. She has been with Mo-Ranch’s Outdoor Education Ministries (OEM) program on and off since 2006, also serving as an assistant camp director, field instructor and naturalist.
“We are excited to have Amber at the helm of our summer camping programs,” said OEM director Patrick Fitzgerald. “She’s familiar with the operation and knows many of the campers and counselors. We look forward to a smooth transition and many great summers with Amber as director.”
In her new role she will continue to oversee the Outdoor Adventure Day Camp, which prior to the leadership change was already being integrated to a larger degree with the residential camping program.
Ms. Thomas’ career in camping started in 1997 and has included leadership roles at camps in Wisconsin, Connecticut, Iowa and Texas. She holds a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management from Northern Arizona University, and has completed additional professional training through American Camp Association and American Red Cross courses.
