About Barbara Brown Taylor

A Weekend with The Rev. Barbara Brown Taylor
February 4 - 6, 2011

Barbara Brown Taylor is an author, professor, preacher, and much sought after speaker. This will be her first trip to Mo-Ranch. She will speak on Friday night, twice on Saturday and again on Sunday morning. Taylor will be speaking on her latest book entitled, An Altar In The World. Between sessions with Taylor, enjoy warm hospitality and the unique hill country landscape found at Mo-Ranch.

As of June 23, 2010 – All of our hotel housing for this event has been reserved. We have a variety of group housing available including spaces in Guest Lodge and Manor House. Due to the popularity of this event, we have also opened up a commuter rate to a limited number of participants. You may also indicate in the “Other Requests” portion of the online registration form that you wish to be placed on the hotel waiting list, by typing the words “hotel waiting list” in that box. Please see the descriptions of our group housing facilities below:

Commuter Rate: We have opened the retreat up to a limited number of commuters. The rate for commuters is $189. This includes all retreat activities as well as dinner on Friday and lunch and dinner on Saturday. The commuter rate is open on a first come first served basis and will be closed when we reach our pre-determined number.

Guest Lodge – Guest Lodge is a unique two-story lodge overlooking the Guadalupe River. A large fireplace dominates the picturesque first-floor meeting and lounge area. There is a large living area on the ground floor. An ADA accessible room with two twin beds and a bath downstairs sleeps 2. Usually this facility sleeps up to 40 people, however, for this event we will not be booking people into top bunks in the rooms that have bunk beds, so it will sleep between 18 and 22 for A Weekend with Rev. Barbara Brown Taylor.

Manor House – The Manor House was the original ranch owner’s home, it is styled after an early Spanish mansion, and has 8 bedrooms, most with private baths, a large living room with fireplace. This facility could be perfect for small groups of women or men as many of the bedrooms sleep 4 or 5 people in twin beds with their own bath. There are five bedrooms downstairs and 3 bedrooms upstairs. Two of the rooms upstairs do share a bath. Manor House is centrally located and is an easy walk to the Main Auditorium and the King Dining Hall.
