ART @ MO: Adult Courses

Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. We reserve the right to cancel any class that does not have at least 6 participants. Classes will be confirmed by email six weeks prior to the conference.

2014 Adult Courses

Artistic Welding with Susan Calkins
Don't let the art of welding intimidate you. Let artist and metal worker Susan Calkins teach you how to make vibrant, meaningful projects using steel. Materials will be provided, but please bring a work shirt, pants and boots.
Min Age: 12 with a mentor | Class Max: 10 | Supply Fee: $50

Market Basket with Mary O'Haver
Come and make a "market basket" with weaver Mary O'Haver. This tote will be able to carry books, magazines, or your market items. Natural reed will serve as the weaving material for the basket while shaker tape will make the handles.

Beginning Landscape Painting - Acrylic with Charles Ingram
In his 44 years as an artist, Charles Ingram has shared his gifts in illustrations for textbooks, newsprint, painted murals, sculpture and through teaching. And, he will share his gifts to help you discover yours through instruction in landscape painting with acrylics.

Digital Photography-Beyond the Basics with Brian K. Loflin
Turn off the "auto" function on your camera and take control of your digital SLR! Veteran photographer Brian Loflin will lead the class through both outdoor exploration of photographic technique as well as editing and organizing your digital photos on your computer.

Jewelry with Jim Morris
An Art@Mo favorite, Jim will teach sawing, soldering, forging, finishing, stone-setting and polishing. Participants must have previously taken Jewelry with Jim at Art at Mo or contact the program office.
Min age: 14; 12 with mentor | Supply Fee: $10 + cost precious metals used by participant. Purchase of precious metals will be from the instructor or bring your own.

Beginner Jewelry with Jean Cofer
Have you ever wanted to make your own jewelry but wern't sure where to start? Join beginning jewelry and explore soldering, sawing and hammering as you creat unique, wearable jewelry. No experience necessary.

Pottery with Barb Francis
From hand-building to throwing on the wheel, from pinch pots to slab construction, teacher Barb Francis will show you the joys and challenges of pottery first-hand.
Supply fee: $25

Quilting with Connie Watkins
Connie Watkins can show you how to bring your ideas to completion. Bring your sewing machine, tools and fabrics, as well as a project to work on.
Min age: 14; 13 with mentor | Supply fee: $25 (does not include fabric)

Stained Glass with Kris Wessale
Allow the beauty of stained glass to become your own creative outlet. Retired educator and artists Kris Wessale will show you how to select and cut glass, use copper foil or lead, sodering your piece and framing the finished piece. Patterns and materials will be provided.

The Great Outdoors- Walter Koopman
Do you enjoy the "R" for recreation in ART@Mo more than art? Join Walter in some outdoor adventures which will include kayaking on the Guadalupe, golf, skeet shooting, ropes course challenges as well as rappelling off the catwalk!
