"All creatures, your creator bless!”
“All creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and let us sing:
Alleluia!”
(Francis of Assisi, PH 455)
Psalm 148 summons the whole of creation—sun, moon, stars, sea monsters, mountains and hill, plants and animals and all peoples—to praise their Creator! Praise is the primary vocation of all creatures, including humanity. Indeed praise binds humanity to all other creatures. How do we praise? By being most authentically who God created us to be. The birds praise by being fully who they are, whether soaring eagle or fluttering hummingbird. The sun praises by doing the sun’s job—providing light and heat and center of our orbit. And humanity? We praise by having dominion, by taking care of that which God has made (Genesis 1:28).
This conference will provide participants of all ages many opportunities to explore what it means for all creatures to praise God. Through Word and sacrament, in singing and ringing, in seminars and study groups, at play and at rest, all of us will find ourselves drawn closer to our Creator and to all God’s creatures.
“Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
and praise the Spirit, Three in One!
Alleluia!” (Hymn 455)
